Taking place annually at the Hudson Valley Wine Festival, which is on the second Saturday in September, the Hudson Valley Wine Competition awards medals for the best wines of the Hudson Valley. Not every winery takes place every year, but many have made a name for themselves based on the results of this competition.

Many of the wines entered into the competition have a blend of grapes sourced from inside and outside of the valley. But, it is remarkable that as many as 60% or more of the wines that win awards here were wines made from grapes grown in our lovely valley itself. The competition started slowly but has been around for almost 20 years. In the beginning, the number of wineries competing were no more than a handful. Today, the competition is crowded with new wineries popping up all over the valley.
